Director of Safety

Position Summary: The Director of Safety will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence within the operations. Duties include defining, developing, implementing programs to ensure compliance and proper engagement with rules and DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, local regulations and company standards, and fostering a culture of safety across the organization. A strong work ethic and attention to the small details will ensure the operations continue to run safely and efficiently. Other duties include communicating with other department managers to coordinate safety activities and the hiring new employees as needed.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities: · Develop and implement safety and compliance programs, policies, and procedures in line with federal, state, and local regulations.· Oversee driver training and orientation programs, emphasizing safety and adherence to industry standards.· Conduct safety audits, inspections, and assessments to identify areas of improvement and ensure compliance.· Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, and violations, providing recommendations for corrective actions.· Manage and maintain compliance records, including driver logs, DOT regulations, and equipment inspections.· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of safety objectives with operational goals.· Stay current with industry regulations and emerging safety trends, implementing best practices as needed.· Lead safety meetings, training sessions, and safety-related communications to enhance awareness and accountability.· Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.· Follows up on questions or concerns promptly and effectively.· Presents a professional image at all times.· Train and Instruct.· Creates open communication channels with their team. · Performs other duties as assigned by Executive Management Team. Education and Experience Required:· AA degree in Transportation or equivalent experience in related field is required.
