The Role

As the company continues to grow as one QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Lab Scientist I. This is a full-time position in the Operations Product Support VITROS laboratory supporting both the MicroSlide and MicroTip products. The Scientist I will work both independently and as a team member to support the testing requirements needed for root cause investigations, product dispositions and validation activities.

This position is in Rochester, NY.

The Responsibilities

Test execution.Sample and material preparation.Data analysis and documentation.Laboratory hygiene and general maintenance.Troubleshooting, investigations and/or other follow up work.Training and other development.Independently executes standard and novel laboratory experiments per test designs.Prepares and handles clinical test specimens per approved procedures and best practices.Operates and maintains laboratory equipment.Accurately completes all required documentation in real time including laboratory quality control records, instrument logs and test records.Completes statistical data analysis and documentation of experiments as needed/requested. Actively participates in maintaining laboratory hygiene.Assists with troubleshooting of instrument and test failures as needed.

The Individual

Required

Minimum Bachelor's Degree in scientific or related field.3-5 years of work experience in a Clinical (BL2) laboratory setting within an FDA regulated industry.The candidate must be comfortable working in a laboratory environment that requires resolution of urgent supply issues in a timely manner and the flexibility to adjust to changing priorities.Familiarity with VITROS products. Experience in change control documentation systems (Windchill/OTIS) and validation experience is a plus.Proficient in computer programs, including Microsoft Excel, Minitab, Word and PowerPoint. Ability to read and write English. Strong attention to detail and data analysis skills. Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are representative of an office, laboratory and manufacturing environment. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines and support of operational goals. Position requires ability to flexibly spend time on the desk, analyzing data, in meetings as well as hand-on product testing as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Position requires use of Personal Protective Equipment as posted.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $58,000.00 to $99,000.00 and is eligible a bonus.
