Quality and Reliability Engineer

Job Summary

A Quality and Reliability Engineer is needed for a technology company that designs and manufactures connectors and sensors for several industries, such as automotive, industrial equipment, data communication systems, and more, in the Hauppauge, NY area. This role ensures product compliance, drives quality control systems, leads customer-centric initiatives, supports new product introduction, and advocates Lean methodology, ideal for candidates with technical backgrounds and experience in quality assurance/engineering.

Responsibilities

Ensure product compliance with company and industry standards, codes, and specifications within specific Value Streams. Design, recommend revisions, and install quality control systems. Develop and document analytical methods for product reliability. Drive Voice of the Customer (VOC) and Extraordinary Customer Experience (ECE) initiatives. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions using systematic problem-solving processes (e.g., Six Sigma methodology, DMAIC, Lean Six Sigma). Assess and deliver on customer-specific quality requirements (KPIs, complaint processing times, approval requirements). Negotiate deviations and concessions with the customer as needed. Handle customer quality complaints and drive 8D responses. Ensure applicability of current quality policies, procedures, and objectives. Develop and implement world-class quality processes in the Quality System. Provide support on New Product Introduction. Lead/support Value Stream Change Management activity. Support Scrap Reduction Initiatives and promote "Zero Defect" mentality. Advocate Lean methodology. Report relevant site-required Key Quality KPIs. Conduct applicable on-site Quality training. Communicate and support Incoming Quality (IQE) / Supplier Development (SDE) personnel. Be able to work under flexible schedules, including extended working hours.

Qualifications, Training, And Experiences

Ideally, a degree in Industrial, Material Science, Materials, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or Quality Assurance OR minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing plant environment in a Quality or Engineering role in aerospace, military, or automotive. Aluminum Extrusion/anodizing or harnessing or molding knowledge advantageous. Technical with a practical hands-on approach and ability to read technical drawings and specifications. Experience in quality planning and implementation of quality tools (e.g., Histogram, Pareto, MSA, PFMEA, Controls plans). Problem-solving skills using 8D methods. Six Sigma certification preferred. strong knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100, or IATF16949 in process compliance. Experience in product/process validation through known approval systems/processes (e.g., FAI, PPAP, APQP). Organized with high motivation and self-initiative, managing multiple tasks and adapting to changing priorities. strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in using MS Office.
