Environmental Health Safety Specialist

Leading consulting firm is seeking a highly motivated, self-starting individual to join the team as an Environmental, Health, and Safety Consultant. This consulting firm provides regulatory, quality, and technical consulting services. We are seeking experienced environmental health and safety professionals to assist us in providing support services to our clients in New York, New York.Key Job Responsibilities:The Environmental, Health, and Safety Consultant will provide client coordination in all safety and environmental disciplines including Potent Compound Safety, Biological Safety, Chemical Safety, Radiation Safety, Controlled Substances, Emergency PreparednessEstablishment and maintenance of EHS permits and licenses in compliance with Federal, State, and City regulations.Conduct Risk Assessments to analyze and evaluate the proper handling of potent compounds, biological materials, chemicals and associated equipment and procedures.Coordinate and conduct training to meet corporate training plans and regulatory requirements.Industrial hygiene monitoring and reporting.Special emphasis on hazardous waste compliance and managementAssist in the review and update of various EHS procedures.May complete special assignments or research projects as required.Performs other tasks as assigned.Qualifications/Education:Bachelor’s degree in engineering, toxicology, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) or related technical field. Graduate degree is preferred but not required.CIH or CSP highly preferred.4-10 years experience in the EHS field in Life Sciences Research and DevelopmentDemonstrated knowledge of and experience with OSHA, State of New York regulations and k Knowledge of IBC, IMC, IFC, and NFPA Codes a plusStrong communication and interpersonal skills. Individual must be able to build strong relationships with both internal and external customers and participate effectively on cross-functional teams without direct supervisory responsibility of the team.Demonstrated experience in Program development and implementation of new or changing regulationsAbility to adapt and learn in a changing work environment.Ability to manage multiple priorities.Strong attention to detailAbility to work independently.Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written.Ability to effectively interact throughout all levels and functions of the organization and with outside agencies.Experience conducting regulatory compliance audits preferred.Physical Demands/ Travel:The physical demands of this job are consistent with office and laboratory environments.
