Quality Assurance Specialist
Who We AreReed Food Technology/Tastemaker Foods is a family-owned food manufacturing company with locations in central and northern Mississippi. The Quality Assurance Specialist would work at our sauce plant, known as Reed Food Technology, in Pearl, MS.
What We Are Looking ForOur Quality Assurance team is responsible for ensuring our products meet the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner with strong problem-solving skills and a good work ethic. The QA department is one of the most demanding, fast-paced areas of our operation. We are hiring a team-member who can keep up while maintaining an attention to detail.
Essential Job Functions· Conduct sampling and analysis of in-process and finished product using company-established techniques; document information derived from analysis.· Must be willing to evaluate organoleptic (taste, smell) properties of our products.· Must be able to perform repetitive tasks without getting bored or distracted. · Conduct pre-operative sanitation inspections and enforce corrective action when necessary.· Conduct environmental allergen testing in accordance with existing allergen control programs to prevent allergen cross-contamination.· Maintain quality SOPs, HACCP/HARPC, GMPs, pest control, allergen control, and other quality programs and certifications as applicable to ensure continuous production consistent with established standards.· Maintain records of all facility analytical results; immediately report out-of-specification results to the QA supervisor.· Evaluate Certificate of Analysis data against specification and take appropriate action when necessary.· Recommend corrective actions necessary to ensure conformity with quality and food safety specifications and standards.· Coordinate with operations to resolve food safety and/or quality problems and to ensure compliance with FDA, SQF and other relevant authorities and standards.· Investigate customer complaints regarding food safety and product quality, and work with management to make appropriate adjustments.· Coordinate employee training in the areas of HACCP, GMP's, and other regulations, and ensure documentation of that training.· Assist with all food safety/quality audits, SQF audits, and customer audits.· Assist the QA and management teams with others needs that may arise.
Education/Experience/Skills· High School Graduate· Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a science-based field is preferred· Strong analytical aptitude and problem-solving skills. · Ability to function as part of a dynamic team.· Familiarity with food safety and QA programs a plus (SQF, HAACP/HARPC, GMP standards), or willingness to learn and excel in these disciplines.· Experience in a food manufacturing facility preferred.· Ability to stand for long periods, walk through a wet, hot and/or cold manufacturing plant, and lift 30 lbs.
Schedule· Our QA team works Monday through Friday, with weekend requirements as needed.
Compensation· $14-18/hr, depending on experience
