Technician - Electromechanical and Battery

We are currently hiring 2 technicians to join our team in a part-time capacity, 20-24 hrs/week, starting in May 2024. This contract can be for up to six months with the possibility of converting to a full-time position. Applicants must be able to work in person in our Signal Hill, California, facility 100% of the time.In this role you will participate in the testing and implementation of high voltage electronics, electrical systems, and batteries. Candidates should be passionate about solving real problems and about creating a more sustainable future. We are looking for highly motivated self-starters comfortable in an early stage company environment. You would work directly with our engineers and scientists and report to our senior battery applications engineer and/or hardware systems manager.

Responsibilities:Set up test fixtures and perform tests on various electrical systems including high voltage battery packs and electric vehicles, carefully adhering to safety codes and written and verbal instructionsCoordinate with multi-disciplinary software, battery modeling, electrical and mechanical teams to test a fully integrated battery diagnostic productCoordinate and conduct UL testing of electronic and energy storage systemsCreate wire harnesses and assemble hardware components Document all design and test methodologiesFind solutions to complex issues and quickly test assumptions in a fast-paced environmentBuild a cleaner future with better battery data and analysis that will maximize the value of every battery.

Minimum QualificationsFamiliarity with electrical test equipment such as DMMs, power supplies, and e-loadsFamiliarity with tools: screwdriver, wrenches, allen keys, wire cutters, power drills, etc.Be extremely detail oriented and determined to always adhere to safety protocolsHave the ability to lift 45 pounds for short periods of time throughout the dayHave excellent critical thinking and problem solving skillsKnow how to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, datasheets, manuals and troubleshoot systems from other similar documentation

Desired QualificationsFamiliarity with NFPA 70E and High Voltage SafetyAbility to drive a forkliftExperience working with batteries (lithium, lead-acid, etc.) in various configurationsSkills: Soldering, wire harness assembly, advanced tooling Basic programming knowledge (Python, C)
