Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Senior Commercial Electrical Designer:

#1. Must have solid AutoCad MEP experience.

#2. Must possess thorough knowledge of NEC and other codes.

#3. Must have B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering.

#4. No more than 3 jobs in the last 10yrs.

Responsibilities Of The Senior Commercial Electrical Designer

Prepare one-line diagrams for residential and commercial projectsRespond to RFI’s for the project and accurately review submittalsSolve installation problems with electrical systems - includes travelling to the site to resolve issuesPrepare floor plans showing electrical device layouts, circuitry, fixtures, equipment, etc.Review and create calculations for electrical loads and panel schedulesPrepare specifications schedules for electrical equipment and materialsLayout fire alarm devices on floor plansSelect and schedule equipmentApply risk management procedures daily to minimize our and client’s exposure to problemsUnderstand work planning and manage design process to the available hours in work planIf required, meet with contractors during and after the design processOversee deliverables to and from clientsOversee and encourage coordination between disciplinesInterface with Operations, Owners, and Subcontractors to discuss impact of work and resolution of problemsUnderstands and adheres to NEC, IECC, IBC, state codes, and local regulations

Requirements Of The Senior Commercial Electrical Designer

B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering is requiredE.I.T. (Engineer In Training) is NOT required but salary incentive will be offered to those who obtain it.P.E. License is NOT required but is a plusMinimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in designing single family, 3-story townhouses, 4-story townhouses and multi-family apartment buildings is required; experience with small commercial projects such as tenant fit outs, lounges, offices, and restaurants is a plus.Proficiency in Engineering Software such as AutoCAD MEP is required. Experience with COMCheck and Revit is a plus.Possesses thorough knowledge of NEC and other codesUnderstands and applies concepts of voltage drop, conductor sizing, harmonics, etc.Ability to coordinate with other engineering disciplinesExcellent organizational and communication skillsStrongly motivated, well organized, and shows professional initiativeTakes ownership of assignmentsWorks well both independently and as part of the project team
