Business Intelligence Analyst

Job Responsibilities And Requirements

The Business Intelligence Analyst will play a critical role in driving the transformation of RSLI’s Data Management and Analytics vision, and a connected data strategy to deliver common, secure and consistent data capabilities across the enterprise. This role will engage in strategic initiatives and support day-to-day activities.

NEXTGEN ANALYTICS

Key member of development team for RSLI’s nextgen data architecture, which incorporates a mix of cloud and on-prem systems along with big data and rdbms technologies.Owns, creates and enhances reports and dashboards within nextgen technologies - Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC)Analyzes, develops and supports reporting datasets within the semantic layer of the database and propagates those to the reporting layer for self-service reporting

CUSTOMER SERVICE

Analyzes business processes in order to determine and develop technical solutions to meet business objectives.Interacts with Business Analysts and staff within business units to determine options for addressing business requirements.Executes ad hoc requests in legacy and nextgen toolsAdministers user access within legacy and nextgen toolsAssists users with user acceptance testingActively involved in CoE to drive adoption of new tools and grow knowledge in IS and Business unitesRotates with team as on-call contact for production issues.

ANALYSIS & REPORTING

Analyzes, designs and develops new reports in existing legacy systems (Actuate) from any necessary data sourceUnit tests development to verify compliance with specificationsWrites technical specifications and determines time estimatesAssists team members with design, technical, and training issuesEnsures reporting is delivered within agreed SLA commitmentsReports status regularly to management

DATA ENGINEERING

Develop and support ETL processes within the Enterprise Data Warehouse to support semantic layer tables/data productsTroubleshoot data from reporting layer through Enterprise Data Platform to understand root causeWork with data engineers and data modelers to support semantic layer table design including enhancements needed to support new data points and efficiency challenges

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Related Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field3+ years of related experienceDesire/curiosity to learn, grow and make an organization data drivenExperience developing reports, dashboards and overall data stories for internal and external customersExperience developing and deploying data warehouse/data mart/ETL/BI deliverables to in support of reportingExperience should include: Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) SQL Oracle PL/SQL ETL Development in Data Warehouse Data Modeling – Relational & Star Schema Indexes, ViewsSolid understanding of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing processes and toolsExperience supporting semantic layer and metadata layer data products used for BI self-serviceMust have disciplined organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, organize, prioritize and meet deadlines as neededStrong interpersonal skills and communication skills in order to develop relationships for attainment of mutual goalsExperience with Actuate reporting tool preferredInsurance background (e.g., claims, underwriting, sales, billing, or finance) preferredExperience with the Kimball Design Methodology including star schemas, bridge tables, staging tables, work tables preferred

Ability to Travel: Up to 10%
