📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities

Project Director (Events)Our team is growing! RA&A’s NYC Office is looking for an energetic Project Director (Event Director) to lead our global clients and projects. Project Directors are responsible for managing a team of internal staff, freelancers, and vendors to execute successful high-level conferences and forums and meeting budget targets. We are a fast-paced, dynamic, and global company, advising heads of state, ministers, CEOs, and institutional leaders on strategic communications initiatives. The right person for this role will be globally minded and culturally competent, eager to learn and gain exposure to a wide variety of clients and projects around the world, able to multitask and find solutions to complex problems, and comfortable working on both detailed tasks and big picture strategy. The Project Directors who thrive in this role are comfortable wearing multiple hats. They are expected to be able to hold their own with clients when talking about content and strategy, but also able to speak to team members about detailed logistics and operations plans. Project Directors are adept at nurturing existing client relationships, as well as cultivating relationships with new business prospects, creating business development pitches, and presenting to clients. Our clients and the work that we do is often conducted under tight deadlines, and all staff are expected to thrive in these conditions. Scope of work: Lead the execution of a project (large-scale event) from conception to completion, taking full ownership of the internal team, client relationship, and budget. Thinking laterally and creatively across project verticals to improve project outcomes, including bringing a wow-effect to programs, production, etc. Building and managing budgets, project plans and staffing for 2 to 3 projects in parallel Assuming primary responsibility for client relationship and success of event Providing detailed progress reporting and organized documentation of all project aspects Steering client discussions around project value proposition and strategic positioning Handling project issue escalation and resolution with client and RA&A senior leadership Sourcing and managing vendors and consultants on projects Qualifications: 10+ years of relevant experience (communications, event management, management consulting, international affairs) Confident project management professional with a strong interpersonal and leadership skills Self-motivated team player, with demonstrated ability to drive and coach a group of diverse individuals towards achieving results Previous experience working with government (Ministries, SWF, Investment Promotion Agencies, etc.) or corporate clients at the C-suite level. Multicultural awareness with experience working or living in different countries Knowledge and interest in emerging market economies, global investment climate and geopolitics Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to work odd and long hours when required (due to working with individuals and clients across different time zones) Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and find solutions to challenges Ability to interact and build trust with a varied range of stakeholders Fluent English, both written and oral. Additional language skills are a plus, especially French or Arabic Knowledge and interest in global issues, emerging market economies, business & investment, geopolitics, social issues (health, education, sustainability, etc.) and beyond Excellent writing and research skills Excellent skills in PowerPoint, Keynote, Excel, PDF and other collaborative and creative working apps Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multi-task Ability to draft clear and concise presentations in English Travel: 30%Compensation: $140,000Benefits: Full health and dental benefits, 401K program, paid time off, bonus structure and more.
