Can be located in Alcoa, TN or Davenport, IA or Lancaster, PA .
The Rolling Mechanical/Process Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing best practices, addressing global systemic and plant-specific issues, enhancing process efficiencies to reduce costs and enhance quality, training operators and other technologists, and introducing new technologies. This role serves as the corporate expert in hot and cold rolling processes and reports to the Manager of Rolling Technology.
The position necessitates effective collaboration with diverse cultures and entails extensive travel (approximately 50%), including international trips.
Primary Responsibilities:**Mechanical Process Engineer-Hot/cold rolling Optimize process equipment to enhance quality and capacity Resolve equipment and process challenges in rolling plants Address chronic issues within the scope of expertise; lead problem-solving teams and engage additional resources as needed Develop and deploy Standard Practices for various rolling processes, identify improvement opportunities, and facilitate technology transfer Maintain relationships with rolling equipment vendors and stay abreast of external developments in rolling processes Provide engineering and operational support for significant capital improvement projects Sponsor, participate in, and occasionally lead rolling development projects Serve as a resource for plant personnel seeking advice on capital and process solutions Participate in technical assessments of facilities and equipment Provide equipment, control, and process training to technical staff Support Major Customers-Global GRP locationsQualifications:** Must have hot and cold rolling experience and aluminum extrusion experience
- *Basic Qualifications:**
Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering or related field 5 years of manufacturing experience, with a minimum of 3 years in hot and cold rolling Legal authorization to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility required at hire Visa sponsorship not available May require access to export-controlled technology; must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for required authorizations Self-starter with the ability to prioritize based on business needs Strong leadership skills
