Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of experience in an advertising/design role in an agency or digital studio Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communications, art direction or a similar creative field Experience directing a team of marketing designers, illustrators, motion artists and photographers on executing creative assetsProven knowledge of building and executing strong design systemsStrong digital portfolio displaying clean, modern design work Experience designing for print, digital, social and fully integrated campaigns and presentationsAdvanced Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite

Job Summary

As the Marketing Design Director, you'll report directly to the Executive Creative Director as a creative leader within the newly formed Creative Center of Excellence. You'll be responsible for elevating the practice of marketing communication design, leading a team of designers, motion graphic artists, photographers and illustrators. You must understand the difference between brand consistency and brand continuity, and how to leverage both to direct teams to make informed and intentional design decisions. You should be ready to present work to executive-level stakeholders and represent Rocket at all stages of engagement. You should have a unnatural passion for design and a portfolio that demonstrates your leadership in the creation of work that is – award-winning, evocative, inclusive and culturally relevant. You'll put your obsession with detail and pixel perfect execution to the test while working in partnership with Creative and Content Directors.

Responsibilities

Display highly conceptual and original thinking in both visual and interaction design Produce concepts that visually communicate the outlined objectives, strategy and brief Interpret strategy to determine direction for visuals and push for new, innovative ideas Participate in brainstorming sessions by contributing/generating ideas and concepts to meet business objectives, strategies and needs See work through concepting and effectively communicate and sell the idea to stakeholders and strategists Have a finger on the pulse of creative and digital advertising industry trends to create next-level work Clearly and concisely express and sell concepts, working with the strategy, campaign management teams and stakeholders
