The position: The Assistant Accounting Manager handles the management and oversight of 1-2 accountants, month end close, financial statement reviews, and audits. This position will also be responsible for full cycle reporting for a limited portfolio of properties which includes overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and BS reconciliations, etc
Responsibilities
Work towards supervising 1-2 Property/Senior AccountantsPrepare monthly financial information in accordance with deadlines/requirements while adhering to accounting policies and procedures and maintaining effective internal controlsPrepare financials for a limited portfolio of propertiesEnsure financial integrity of properties assigned to team by reviewing monthly financial reportsSupport Accounting Manager by serving as resource for all accountants on the teamEffectively communicate and collaborate with clients and property management in a timely manner while providing exceptional customer service and escalate as appropriatePerform audit liaison responsibilities for internal and external financial auditsAssist in new property onboarding and dispositions as assignedEnsure critical dates are met (taxes, insurance, debt payments, etc.)Effectively communicate team updates to Manager/Controller weeklyParticipate in the execution of strategic initiates such as Information Technology, Policies and Procedures, etcUse of detailed technical accounting skills to assess appropriateness of accounting treatmentEnsure cash flow management topay the property expenses and to adequately predict the need for fundingParticipate in interviewing/hiring team, performance reviews, goal setting and employee developmental planningAct as a mentor to help train new or less experienced accounting staffParticipate in the preparation & maintenance of written policies & procedures for functions/duties performedPerform other duties and tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Executive Team
Qualifications
Bachelorβs degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience3+ Years of Property Management Experience Preferred or equivalent0-1+ Year of Hands On Managerial ExperiencePreferred Industry Specific Software: Yardi, RealPage/Onesite, Entrada Proficient in Microsoft Office
