The Opportunity

SkillBridge (DoD) – CEI Inspector

Locations: Florida, North Carolina, Texas, Colorado, Virginia, Michigan.

SkillBridge Training Start Date

Start dates are dependent on the qualified service member. Dates are able to be adjusted as necessary and will last approximately 12 weeks.

This opportunity is for a CEI Inspector who will provide construction oversight on active roadway and bridge projects in the designated area. This position is intended to be a career-building opportunity as the successful candidate will be required to grow their CEI skills through a combination of hands-on and classroom training throughout the program. Successful candidates will also have opportunities for career growth in inspection, project management, client management, and business development.

RS&H offers specific training in project management and client management, as well as general career growth training and mentorship. We are focused on developing your existing skills and fostering a teamwork approach in delivering construction management and oversight on various heavy civil transportation projects.

What You Will Do Throughout The Training Program

Once accepted/approved, the training program will commence by introducing participants to the core values and culture of RS&H. The training you will be able to:

Understand construction plans Understand contractor payment procedures and processes Have an awareness of materials needs Understand contract documents Develop appropriate inspection plans

Essential Functions Once Hired As a Full-time Employee (FTE)

Maintain detailed records of the contractor’s daily operations , including manpower, equipment, construction methods, and events that affect the work Monitor work zone traffic control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issues Monitor the erosion control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issues Perform sampling and testing of component materials and completed work Verify the dimensions of prepared and completed work Inspect the construction work and conduct field tests Track/measure completed work quantities for payment Perform survey checks Completes all other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Active-Duty Service Member within 180 days of honorable separation Eligible/Approved for the DoD SkillBridge program Strong written and verbal communication skills Must have a Valid Driver's License with a good driving record Must obtain any required certifications and pass appropriate qualifications tests for the position in specified time frames Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist, or stoop frequently and for prolonged periods, under various outside conditions Ability to reach horizontally as well as vertically for required tasks Ability to use construction or inspection safety equipment including fall protection Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and shake up to 20 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field from an ABET-accredited university Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications Army 12 Series MOS or similar Air Force AFSC 3E5X1 or similar Navy NOS H100, H110 or similar USMC MOS 1345, 1341 or similar Coast Guard ENG MOS or similar
