Business Development Manager – Private Equity
Location: San Francisco Bay Area
Job Summary
This individual will serve as a strategic contributor and tactical initiator for the firm’s Private Equity Business Development group. This individual will coordinate with numerous firm resources to develop and execute a market growth strategy and approach for each private equity firm assigned to them and in support of others within the firm. This role will fully understand all aspects of the firms' private equity strategy and leverage tools, support and best practices to expand the firm's relationships and wallet share within their private equity assignments.
Job duties
Conduct research of assigned private equity groups and provide analysis, synthesis and delivery of data to provide higher value information in support of the Private Equity Business Development team, Directors and PartnersRespond to requests from PE Business Developers and Partners for information on private equity groups in support of pursuitsSupport research, analysis and planning for overall PE practiceCollaborate and support assigned current PE Business Development Directors and PE Business Development team leader on team on key accounts and initiativesInteract with professional staff to collaboratively address the PE marketplace in a team orientated coordinated fashionIn coordination with the PE Business Development Directors, build and maintain strong sales pipelines and forecasts associated to substantiated opportunitiesPrepare and facilitate presentations, proposalsClose sales, and finalize agreements with clientsIn coordination with the PE Business Development Directors, Identify and lead a coordinated, cross functional team to pursue all aspects of the PE relationship as or in collaboration with the PE client service coordinatorIdentify and leverage key industry and technical resources to deploy on new opportunitiesDrive overall expansion and penetration of assigned PE clients and targets while retaining current engagementsUnderstand each PE firm's strategic plans and business strategy (industry, investment mandate, exit strategy etc.)
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent experienceMinimum of 3-5+ years of research experience or demonstrated success in selling professional servicesPrior success consultative selling for a consulting or accounting firm strongly preferredPrior private equity knowledge and/or experience preferredDemonstrated network of COI's (Centers of Influence) to include banking, legal and other professional services relationships that could be leveraged to identify opportunities within private equity firmsDemonstrated strategic thought process, experience and deployment capabilitiesOutstanding relationship management skills and personal networking skillsDemonstrated strong verbal communication skillsDemonstrated ability to clearly communicate in writingStrong presentation skills. Candidate must demonstrate ability to organize and lead a meeting with C-level executivesStrong organizational skills and attentiveness to detail. Candidate must be able to prioritize and multi-task in an outcome-oriented environmentProject management. Candidate must demonstrate ability to manage time, multi-task and meet deadlines, as well as possess strong creative problem solving and conflict resolution skillsTeamwork. Candidate must demonstrate experience in working as a productive member of a teamTangible and demonstrated experience in formal sales process deployment and useExperience leveraging a CRM tool for report generation and sales trackingTravel is required (local and overnight when appropriate).
