Title: Mainframe CICS Engineer
Location: New York, NY 10004
Duration: 12+ months (Potential conversion)
Pay Range : $75-90/hr. on W2 Depending on experience
Job Duties
The Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer is responsible for all phases of CICS engineering, system and software maintenance, and CICS related operation functions. The candidate must be comfortable working with CICS (and MQ) in a 24x7 large scale Sysplex and CICSPlex environment and must be able to interface with application developers and operations teams. The CICS engineer should have strong analytical, organizational and communication skills, as well as in-depth knowledge in CICS performance & tuning, debugging and dump analysis. On-call support and maintenance outside of normal working hours are needed to support the CICS environment and to resolve issues.
Skills Required
Knowledge of all CICS parameters that control performance in a CICSPlex environment.Knowledge of SMP/E, software upgrade and maintenanceKnowledge of CICS SMF record structure and the CICS Performance Analyzer tool to gather statistics necessary to tune CICS regionsExperience with CICSPlex SM implementation & customization, dynamic transaction routing, etc.Knowledge of the CICS resource definitions that pertain to CICS region performanceAbility to perform problem determination, dump analysis and performance tuningExperienced with the CICS monitoring tools such as Sysview for CICS.Knowledge of Cobol to support application developersExperience with Mainframe Websphere MQ- Good oral/written communication skills
Skills desired
Assembler and COBOL coding and knowledge of CICS ExitsWeb application support in a CICS TS V5 environment- Understanding of zOS facilities such as: APF, Linklist, VSAM, LPA, Coupling FacilityGood Project Management skills- Knowledge of the CICS Interdependency Analyzer toolWorking knowledge of the zOS & CICS Explorer- Knowledge of Natural language & AdabasPrior Application programming experience a plus.
