This position is located in Denver, CO and requires the employee to be onsite several days during the week combined with remote days based on projects/workload.
Job SummaryThis position will report to the Fund Accounting Manager. This position will report to the Fund Accounting Manager and will assist in day-to-day responsibilities for the operations of multiple open-end real estate funds with over $1B in AUM and separate accounts with large institutional investors. The Senior Fund Accountant will support the Fund Accounting team through preparation of monthly closes for clients, preparation of fair value quarterly financial statements, and support the Fund Accounting team’s operational needs.
Job Background Requirements• Bachelor’s degree required; accounting/finance majors and CPA preferred.• Minimum of 3 years of general ledger accounting or 2 years of public accounting experience.• Experience with investment accounting and fund accounting preferred. Exceptional knowledge and foundation in US GAAP accounting and financial reporting.

MRI accounting software or equivalent experience with enterprise accounting system
Key DeliverablesPrepare the daily accounting processes for Fund entities; coordinate with property accounting, finance, and other teams to meet close deadlines and reporting requirementsPrepare general ledger accounting reconciliations, identify and research unique transactions, prepare fund consolidationsProvide oversight, coordination, and review of the quarterly financial and investor statements and annual reporting for the funds that are outsourced to the third-party fund administrator.Assist with the preparation of monthly/quarterly consolidated fair value financial statements, footnotes, investor statements, and internal reporting packages.Work closely with the Fund Accounting Manager on process improvement initiatives, policies, controls and documentationMonitor daily balances of cash and securities maintained by third party, ensure proper accounting for cash and security movements as well as investor contributions/redemptions.Assist with multiple audits and tax return filings by providing supporting documentation and assisting with the coordination of the audit and tax teams. Coordinate tax payments to various jurisdictions as necessaryPrepare wire payments and cash instructions for invoices, acquisitions, debt, investor redemptions, fund transfers, distributions and capital calls.Assist with quarterly fund performance calculations.Prepare supporting schedules for quarterly investor requests for information, prepare investor reporting deliverables and provide ad-hoc information requests as neededComplete investor audit confirmation requests, ad-hoc investor reporting analysisAssist with REIT compliance testing (quarterly/annually).Work closely with external auditors and tax preparers in preparation of annual financial statements, tax reporting (1099’s, K-1’s, Form 5500).As needed, assist with treasury and reporting requirements for other fund teams and property accounting teams.Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.Assist the Fund Controller and Fund Accounting Manager in researching accounting, legal and tax issues surrounding topics such as ERISA, consolidation, fund structuring, UBTI, valuations, and other fund matters.

Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the stated range based on various factors including, among other factors, location, education and training, experience, internal pay alignment, and performance. A potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions. Many candidates’ compensation will start in the bottom half of the stated range. This role is also eligible to participate in a merit-based annual bonus program, health, vision, and dental insurance plans, long and short-term disability, 401K plan, and PTO. This information is provided in connection with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, and similar requirements in California and New York. Positions located outside of these states may or may not necessarily receive the same compensation.
