Job Summary

The Senior Technical Designer links the design department and production to ensure that all designs translate to garments. The role includes leading the fit process from design to release to include PP’s and TOPs, generating very clear measurements of each fit and translating a design concept to a well-informed tech pack working closely with our design department. Due to the nature of apparel design, the role will often manage multiple major tasks and projects simultaneously for different seasons, departments, divisions and designers.

Essential Job Functions

Manage and lead the fit process from design to release, which requires a significant level of multi-tasking.Categorize current design blocks, assign codes, and organize our current fits into a library for the business to reference for future development.Store all fit blocks/specs/and graded specs so that they are easily found and accessible for sending patterns to different factories and thus keeping our fits consistent.Responsible for keeping a library of all up-to-date specs easily accessible for all departments.Work closely with design and product development to ensure that designs are translated correctly.Set up fittings and manage fit sessions by fitting all samples on a live model and recording comments.Take, track and communicate notes to all relevant parties to ensure final fit, quality and construction meets standards.Communicate efficiently and effectively with all parties including cross-functional departments.Work with Design team using their sketches to create thorough tech packs with construction details and key measurements.Follow grade rules, cross-check pattern, production specs, and BOM before release to vendors. Work with vendors on grading.Track and monitor execution to time-and-calendar; record and track all packages.Track fit all TOP samples.Keep archives of all samples, notes, trims, etc.Keep all proto/SMS/PP and TOP samples organized with all approval dates and notes.

Experience:8-10 plus years of experience in technical design of apparel or relevant trainingExperience working with overseas factoriesExperience working with prints and repeats is a plus

Education:Bachelor’s degree is preferred

The physical demands of the job include interacting and communicating verbally with others and listening to exchange of information, frequently reading and writing and/or typing information, repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers, standing, walking.

Typical hours are Monday – Friday at 8 hours per day

Salary range: $90,000-110,000
