Construction Estimator

South Florida Based GC that is specialized in the build out of high end retail stores is looking for an Estimator to join their team in Doral.

Job Description

• Interpret and analyze project drawings and specifications, proposals and other documentation;• Responsible for accurate, detailed take-off of quantities from project drawings and specifications;• Develop detailed cost estimates for discrete self-perform work elements;• Setup and maintain the estimate file and associated pursuit specific databases;• Identify, solicit and analyze subcontractor and vendor proposals;• Assist with the maintenance of Bid estimating databases;• Assist with the procurement of major materials and subcontracts on successful pursuits;• Perform research for means and methods, materials, equipment, costs and construction techniques and services to increase competitiveness;• Ensure all project files for assigned projects are named and filed in accordance with the Estimating Department's electronic project file directory structure. Maintain all working documents and data to back-up estimate figures.• Review and incorporate historical data from subcontracts, purchase orders, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit costs.• Review proposal specifications and drawings, attend pre-bid/design meetings, determine scope of work, determine required proposal/bid deliverables, ascertain potential risks, follow-up for in-house operations plans, etc. when assigned as Lead on estimates and bids.• Prepare fully complete conceptual, schematic, and final estimates as well as estimating tracking reports and variance reports.• Direct, oversee, and provide technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates and evaluating subcontractor bids.• Assess and understand all bid and estimate risk.
