📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Here at Sentry, Security Operations Center (SOC) Analysts are responsible for monitoring our information technology networks for potential threats and responding to alerts generated by our security platforms. The role of the SOC Analyst is key in keeping Sentry’s networks safe and secure from a wide variety of complex cyber threats.
We’re seeking a motivated individual who possesses advanced critical thinking skills, the desire and ability to learn complex concepts and is enthusiastic in accepting new challenges. This person will utilize advanced technologies and techniques to keep our data and networks secure. The work performed by this individual will be conducted within the context of the incident response lifecycle.
This position works second-shift. The standard work hours for this role are 1:30pm-10:00pm, Sunday – Thursday.
What You’ll Do
As a SOC Tier I Analyst, you’ll focus your efforts on monitoring our information technology networks for potential threats and responding to alerts generated by our security platforms. Additionally, you will:
Conduct regular maintenance and upgrades of security technologies and solutions which protect the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of information systems and data. Review incident response procedures and playbooks/runbooks to ensure accuracy. Identify and provide recommendations to senior team members on opportunities to improve procedures, including errors and additional security alerts. Collect and help analyze data regarding threat hunting/threat intelligence initiatives to support the proactive identification of security threats. Develop and maintain knowledge of the company’s security goals, policies, and standards. Participate in creating phishing simulations to enhance associate’s understanding and detection of attacks in a safe environment.
What It Takes
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent work experiencePreferred knowledge of Amazon Web Services and solutions, Windows/Linux/Unix operating systems, PowerShell/Bash scripting, and the use of regular expressions. Experience with client/server, firewall, LAN and TCP/IP architecture security. Proficiency in operating systems security, Active Directory, firewalls, public key infrastructure, proxy servers, network security, and cloud solutions. Security or networking certifications are preferred. Ability to work non-standard work hours including nights, weekends, and on-call rotations as needed. On the job training is provided. Some travel may be required for other formal trainings. Scripting experience is beneficial.
