Institutional Givng Manager

The Institutional Giving Manager is responsible for supporting the short- and long-term fundraising goals of the SF-Marin Food Bank by securing funds from institutional giving sources, primarily from private foundations and government entities. This role is responsible for developing and implementing grant proposal submissions, letters of inquiries, and reports in alignment with our organization priorities and strategies.  This position will serve as the primary grant writer for the Food Bank and is expected to independently secure grant funding through relationship management and written submissions.   Who We Are: Our mission is to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin. What You Would Be Accountable for: The Institutional Giving Manager will be responsible for the following key pieces of work: Works with the Director of Institutional Giving to help set strategy for prospective and current institutional grant makers. Develops language, goals, and other materials for programs and/or capital priorities and needs aligned with the organization's priorities and strategies. Builds and stewards sustainable relationships with foundations and grant makers. Develops contact with and facilitates meetings between grant makers and SF-Marin Food Bank leadership as needed. Plans and coordinates grant development including research, data collection, writing, budget, and supporting materials. Writes letters of intent, grant proposals, follow up letters, and other grant-related documents to solicit, retain, and maximize financial support according to grant makers’ guidelines and deadlines. Tracks the status of funded projects and coordinates reports to funders. Works with the Executive Office, Programs, Operations, Analytics and Evaluation, Human Resources, and Finance & Administration staff as needed to collect program outcome data and evaluate performance. Writes and submits reports according to grant makers’ guidelines and deadlines. What You Would Be Doing Right Now: Grants Management & Stewardship   Builds and stewards sustainable relationships with foundation and government funders. Develops contact with and facilitates meetings between grant makers and Food Bank leadership as needed.  Develops proposal and report language assigned, including research, data collection, writing, budget, and supporting materials.    Writes grant proposals to solicit, retain, and maximize financial support according to grant makers’ guidelines and deadlines.  Maintains and updates the grant proposal and report template.   Research   Identifies new prospects by researching potential foundation grant makers and monitoring/searching various sources to identify applicable grant opportunities.   Analyzes and recommends funding opportunities to pursue from pool of prospective grant makers.  Manages and updates an ongoing list of prospect foundations.   Administration   Coordinates the preparation, mailing and filing of letters of intent, concept papers, proposals, follow up letters, and other grant-related documents as needed.  Proofreads outgoing letters, proposals, reports, and other grant documents.   Other Funding Projects    Assists development staff with selected fundraising activities to achieve department and organization goals, including donor recognition/cultivation events and corporate partner/sponsor projects.   Assists with the production of written collateral to support broader development goals as needed.   Coordinates and compiles supplemental documents for proposals and reports as needed and ensures that proposals and reports are submitted by the deadline.   Updates and tracks ongoing changes to organizational data from various departments within the organization.   Maintains and updates data on funders in electronic files, and Raiser’s Edge.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Raiser’s Edge is preferred. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred. KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Proficient with Word, Excel, and web-based research.   Experience with a database management system.  Prior grant proposal and report management experience.  PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position is set in a hybrid work environment. The starting salary for this position ranges from $84,702.51 - $87,322.18, with exact salary depending on experience.
