Job Overview – Fixed Assets Accounting Manager – 32848
As the Fixed Assets Accounting Manager, your primary responsibility will be leading the implementation of processes, policies, and procedures to uphold the accuracy of Fixed Assets accounting and reporting. You'll play a pivotal role in the financial month-end closing and reporting process by overseeing complex journal entries and managing the fixed assets subledger for the company. Collaboration with key business stakeholders and finance partners will be essential to provide guidance on capital versus expense accounting treatment and ensure adherence to relevant guidance, policies, and processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are crucial, and you'll need to exhibit leadership qualities to motivate and develop staff members.
Key Details
Ensure accurate calculation, support, and reconciliation of the fixed assets subledger and corresponding general ledger accounts. Assist in overseeing the monthly, quarterly, and yearly close processes related to fixed assets, deferred assets, intangibles, and lease accounting. Conduct thorough due diligence and accounting for built and acquired fixed assets, including the implementation of a new depreciation policy. Support management of both external and internal audit activities pertaining to fixed assets, deferred assets, intangibles, and lease accounting. Aid in the development and implementation of Accounting Policies and Standard Operating Procedures to facilitate the tracking and reporting of fixed assets in alignment with GAAP. Review and improve analysis and analytical processes and controls for enhanced accuracy and efficiency. Offer accounting guidance to internal stakeholders regarding the treatment of capital versus expense for contracts and invoices. Manage internal processes for the allocation of capitalized labor and interest during construction to internal projects. Monitor aging balances for assets under construction to ensure timely completion. Prioritize and review staff activities to maintain appropriate work quality and productivity. Manage performance and foster ongoing development of staff members. Cultivate effective working relationships with key business partners to facilitate collaboration and information sharing.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, Master's a plus CPA designation a plus Public accounting experience highly preferred 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years of related experience in Fixed Assets accounting Preferred 2+ years of experience leading teams of direct reports in a deadline-driven environment. Experience organizing a large volume of information and identifying and deploying automation tools/solutions Proficiency in the use of database tools and financial reporting packages. Clear communicator, experience running meetings effectively, and to explain complex concepts to a non-technical audience Complete ownership and accountability of the function given the deadline-oriented nature of the position Adaptable to changing business environment and organizational structure
