Director- Predictive Planning and Insights

Responsibilities

The Director of Predictive Planning & Insights (PPI) Center of Excellence leads a team that partners with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to provide forecasts and market insights to Sherwin’s business units. The role leads a global forecasting process and has ultimate ownership over the definition of the statistical models feeding the forecast. The role will work closely with the Finance leadership team to lead and provide direction for building a consensus forecast.

The role is focused on

Improving forecast accuracy through the continuous development of statistical forecasting models Developing process and governance to drive forecast consensus between PPI and FP&A. This includes the development of monthly insights that help FP&A explain anticipated external market impacts and how they drive forecastsStrategy for enhancing internal forecasting capabilities. This includes partnering with the Enterprise Data and Insights (EDI) team in the continued development of current technology and evaluation of potential new technologiesProviding leadership and mentorship to an experienced team developing forecasts/insights. Partnering with the Integrated Planning team to develop processes to better align forecasts across Supply Chain, Finance and Business UnitsEvaluation of potential new use cases for the PPI teamLink big-picture strategy current day-to-day operations, serving as a key role in the connection between Business Unit Finance, FP&A, and Supply ChainLeads the presentation/communication of quarterly forecast updates to varying levels of leadershipBuilding relationships with leaders to gain forecast alignment across the enterprise

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

FORMAL EDUCATION

Required

Bachelors degree in Finance, Business, Applied Mathematics, or a related field

Preferred

Masters degree in Finance, Business, Applied Mathematics, or a related fieldCFA/MBA

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Required

10+ years of demonstrated forecasting leadership experience with a focus on aligned process area and business partnership5+ years with people management experience preferred5+ years with statistical modelling experienceAbility to build strong business partnerships and collaborate across multiple business units and stakeholders

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Required

Using statistical techniques (e.g., regression analyses, clustering models, time series forecasting, etc.) to analyze big data in order to predict and strategize on future financial trends and performance. Identifying opportunities to integrate/optimize AI and machine learning into financial analyses. Leveraging finance processes (e.g., budgeting, forecasting, planning, etc.), identifying areas for process improvement, and collaborating with key stakeholders across the business to change/improve processes. Mapping out best-case, expected, and worst-case scenarios and modelling these financially in order to future-proof the business. Producing high-level summaries of these scenarios and communicating them with stakeholders. Understanding of defining, reporting, and monitoring KPIs/SLAsUnderstanding of developing execution approach and defining proceduresDeep expertise in sales forecasting
