Position Summary

The Quality Inspection Supervisor coordinates departmental activities and special projects and directs staff in accordance with good measuring practice using all inspection tools, work instructions and Visual Aids. This position will organize department workflow to meet production needs and recommend equipment needed to facilitate inspection activities. The position is expected to maintain expedient communication with the Director of Quality, co-workers, Quality Engineers and management team.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Establish processes to streamline workflow and inspection methods.Assist in maintaining work instructions and Control Plans to correlate to process or part changes.Responsible for efficient first article inspection/problem resolution.Applies experience to perform root cause analysis and corrective action.Direct inspectors, coordinate department inspection activities to support production and shipping needs.Evaluate department processes. Recommend and coordinate needed changes based on process analysis.Provides inspection activity support for product through production cycle.Position inspectors to meet and exceed division goals.Directly supervises Inspection staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Responsible for staff work assignments/rotation and employee training. Recommends adjustments to staff among facilities to cover needs.Responsible to meet department productivity and quality goals.Seeks and acts upon ways to improve daily work processes to enhance quality, productivity, and satisfy customer needs and expectations; looks for cost reduction and service improvements; eliminates unnecessary or low priority work; initiates and encourages others to resolve impediments and act on improvement opportunities.Act as main communication point between inspectors/leads and operators.Will identify problems and maintain constant communication with the Quality Engineers and help finding resolutions.Lead 5s sustainment activities.Other duties as assigned. This person will also be an active inspector as scheduling requires.

Education And/or Experience

High School diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.Basic math skills required. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.Knowledge and experience using GD&T for inspection a plus.Familiarization with all industry standard mechanical inspection equipment.Ability to use MS Word and Excel. Experience in Oracle and Agile, a plus.Excellent organization and problem-solving skills.Prior supervisory experience a plus.Ability to present possible solutions when notifying management of an issue.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with team and management.

Working Conditions

Able to lift up to 25 pounds.Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.Must be willing to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
