Biomedical research requires access to an array of technologies — and to people with the knowledge of how to use them in creative ways — in order to tackle complex problems.
Technology plays a vital role in the scientific and administrative work accomplished by every employee. The Institute is a complex, decentralized digital environment with over 70 petabytes of storage across a variety of centralized and local groups using on prem and cloud, and utilizing over 160 million hours of compute per year.
About the RoleThe BitStore is an internal fee for service mechanism (chargeback) used to recover IT costs from our diverse research community. As of October 2023, the three primary areas we recover costs on are Data Storage, Virtual Machines, and High Performance Compute (HPC). This opportunity requires working with many different departments at the our clients (sponsored research, finance, IT, etc.) and primarily focus on successfully billing back our IT costs while resolving internal/external billing issues.The IT Billing Specialist is responsible for processing and billing of customer invoices for our technology services. This includes gathering usage data from various sources, creating billing reports, and loading data into our Enterprise System (SAP). The Billing Specialist will also need to prepare annual quotes for the services and ensure that funding is approved to pay for the services. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting, billing, and ERPs.
Key ResponsibilitiesCreate annual quotes for service approval and fundingGather data from various sources, Google Sheets, SAP, OracleCreate & manage billing reports for both internal and external customersData entry into SAP for monthly billingsReview and resolve billing issues while working with BITS staffMaintain billing records on a monthly basisOther duties related to IT finances as assigned
Experience & QualificationsAssociates degree in Accounting or a related fieldRelevant work experience (2+ years) in accounting and/or billingStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent attention to detailVery good communication and collaboration skillsDemonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong working relationshipsKnowledge of sponsored awards and grants a plus
