Process Engineer II

Job Summary: This position is responsible for developing and validating scientific injection molding processes for implementation in a high-volume contract manufacturing environment. The position will work directly with Engineering, Quality, Tooling, Production, Marketing, and Scheduling to assure that each new project is managed in a professional and timely manner. This position includes many essential components necessary for successful and efficient manufacturing, and as such, shares a primary responsibility for the final product delivered to the customer.

Responsibilities

Develop injection molding processes, using scientific molding methodologies. Document process development and maintain history of process development. Defense of process development decisions both internally and to the customer. Validate processes for new and existing tooling from initial sample through First Article acceptance by customer. Debug and recommend improvements for existing tools and processes. Assists in startups when necessary. Reviews new tool designs and recommends improvements. This position reviews with other members of the technical team on procurement of new processing equipment and recommends changes/modifications/upgrades to existing equipment when required. Assist in mentoring, training and advancing the knowledge of setup and molding technicians. Evaluates molding cell opportunities for automation and other cost reduction opportunities on an ongoing basis and presents recommendations to management. Advises Cost Accounting of any changes to Bill of Materials including cycle times, material usage and cavitation. Participates in customer meetings on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications

Performance evaluation will be based on technical skills, communication skills, initiative, results, and the ability to work in a team environment. The successful candidate will be a self-starter requiring minimal supervision and able to work well remotely and with persons of diverse backgrounds. BSME/BSMFGT or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution of higher education is highly desirable but not required. Possesses in-depth understanding of plastic injection molding process development using scientific methodologies. Understands medical manufacturing requirements (IQ, OQ, PQ, Validation, etc)Adept with standard computer office tools (PowerPoint, Project, Word, Excel, etc.). The successful candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience developing and validating injection molding processes for high volume production.

Salary Range: $88,300 - $103100 / year
