Field Service Manager

Summary

The Field Service Manager is responsible for the service and troubleshooting of SMS Technical Services equipment with specific emphasis on extrusion presses. Directly supervises SMS Employees while on job site, interfaces with the customer during the project and acts as liaison with operations. Assists the Operations Manager in developing scopes of work, resource planning, and project proposals.

What You'll Do

Perform inspections and repairs as well as provide installation support of new or revamped equipment.Develop proposals and offers for mechanical upgrades and repairs along with implementation of tailored predictive and preventive maintenance programs.Project management for field construction projects to include planning timelines and project resourcing.Directly supervise extrusion press installation and maintenance projects and manage other site supervisors at separate locations.Review detailed inspection records and data to define the precise scope of repair.Monitor, review and report on equipment performance and make recommendations for improvements.Manage the inventory required for the repair of equipment.Review work practices and procedures to ensure safety, quality and productivity.Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises SMS employees while on job site.Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.Drives a strong safety culture with the field service crews.Demonstrated interest in growing and mentoring the field service team technically and professionally.

What You'll Need

Result focused, well organized, self-motivated person with excellent investigative skills. Strong commitment to providing superior customer service in conjunction with excellent communication skills on all levels.Experience as a millwright or heavy equipment operator.Experience with rigging, welding, machining, and industrial safety practices is key to this position.Advanced training as a mechanical technician with several years of field service experience, a Mechanical Engineering degree is a plus but not required.Possess sound knowledge and understanding of machinery basics, a high aptitude in mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.Able to read mechanical and civil blueprints and hydraulic schematics, familiarity with electrical schematics is beneficial.Knowledge of Standard MS Office application.A willingness to travel extensively to our customers in United States and Mexico is an important component of the position.Ability and willingness to obtain a commercial driver's license is desirable.
