Engineering Technician IV

SMX is seeking an Engineering Technician (ET) IV to apply their engineering experience, knowledge, and principles to install, troubleshoot, maintain, document, and provide solutions for various types of information technology infrastructure cabling and networks, as well as electrical, electronic, avionics, and/or mechanical equipment and other related devices to support Tactical and Remote Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Collaboration, and Intelligence (C5I) Edge Systems (TARCES) customer mission sets.

This position required a DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI, which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Proficient in reading blueprints/schematics, developing/updating system/facility drawings in accordance with unified facility criteria regulations for Building, Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI), and other related industry standards (ie: Unified Facilities Criteria) and/or local guidance as requiredInstall or maintain existing fire stopping systems in conduits, trays, wall/ceiling/floor penetrations in secure/non-secure facility spacesLight construction finishing tasks as required for project successUse OTDR, power meter, optical fault locator, copper cable/fiber optic splicers, and other applicable test equipment as required for the assigned jobPerforms quality assurance testing of assemblies and equipment fabricated by other techniciansOften assigned as on-site team lead and reports directly to Integration Team Project ManagerResponsible for maintaining safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal requirementsAttends project meetings with customer and SMX leadership to provide daily, weekly, and monthly project status updates as requiredPerform site surveys for rough order of magnitude (ROM) estimates and minimum equipment list (MEL) to assigned PM and/or PMO staffAbility to travel up to 75% of the time both CONUS and OCONUS

Required Skills & Experience

Clearance required: Secret with the ability to obtain TS/SCIHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent5 to 7 years of hands-on in an engineering field applicable to the job description and essential duties listed aboveDemonstrated knowledge/experience working with:National Electric Code (NEC) for low-voltage electricityBICSI standardsAudio/Visual and Video teleconferencing (VTC), preference to CrestronLenel, Bosch, Hirsch/Identiv, MilestoneFollowing specific instructions, assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts, servicing or repairing instruments or equipmentAt least one current industry certifications: NEC, BICSI, Lenel, Bosch, Hirsch/Identiv, Milestone, Audio Visual Technologist, Certified Technology Specialist, etcAt least two current job-safety certifications: OSHA-10, OSHA-30, OSHA Ladder Safety, OSHA Fall Protection, CPR, Confined Spaces, etcAbility to safely lift 50 lbsAbility to climb ladders, use scaffolding/scissor lifts, and climb radio towers without fear of heightsValid US Passport
