The Role

The Cybersecurity Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) team handles a wide range of cross-functional activities, from security risk management, security policies and standards, inbound and outbound due diligence, third party risk management, compliance certifications and audits, security awareness, and more.

Each of these ongoing parallel activities entails interpreting and setting requirements, risk-based decision making, cross-functional collaboration and communication, assessing the effectiveness of security controls, and staying up-to-date on security best practices and how changes in the evolving threat landscape need to inform our strategy.

We are seeking a motivated and driven Cybersecurity Risk and Compliance to drive a couple of key projects. As a summer intern, you will own 1-2 key initiatives end-to-end and work collaboratively with our Cybersecurity team on the project(s). Additionally, you will work with external key stakeholders and get exposure to other functions at SoFi. Please see below for a list of sample projects. This role reports to the Security Compliance Manager.

What You’ll Do

Support the creation, iteration and ongoing optimization of recurring weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting for the cybersecurity teamSupport team performance with OKR tracking and project management activitiesSupport incoming audits and optimization of evidence collectionSupport risk remediation and cybersecurity maturity enhancement efforts Communicate insights and recommendations in a clear and concise manner, including presenting to senior leadership

What You’ll Need

Enrolled in an accredited US-based university (working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bachelor’s Degree in business, management information systems, cybersecurity, computer science, data science, or related fields) with an expected graduation date of Spring 2025Must be returning to school for at least one quarter or semester after the internshipHave no more than 12 months of professional full-time work experience (excluding internships and research assistant roles)Must be willing to relocate to San Francisco Bay Area and be available to work in the San Francisco HQ officeMust be attending a US-based university for positions in the USAble to obtain work authorization in the US in 2024A passion for our mission of helping people achieve their financial goalsStrong analytical abilities and proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets, PowerPoint/Google Slides Ability to work independently and a strong sense of ownership (Methodical, self-starter, hands-on, willingness get into the details) Excellent communication skills and is detail-oriented and well-organizedProject and program management skillsPositive attitude, eagerness to learn new skills, tools and process
