Graphic Designer Job Summary:We’re looking for a Graphic Designer to join a consumer goods company headquartered near Washington, DC. As a Graphic Designer, you will be design and produce art and copy layouts for material to be presented by visual communications media such as catalogues, electronic media, books, magazines, newspapers, television, and packaging.
Graphic Designer Responsibilities:Conceptualize and create graphics for various mediums, including but limited to clothing catalogues, brochures, point-of-purchase, web site and packaging.Utilizes various graphical software tools and technologies to transform graphical concepts into specific electronic applications on and off-line. Uses appropriate pixel and vector-based images, typography, live text, web safe colors, image scanning, and form elements to support the application and quality of the product.Stays abreast of any industry-wide changes in design philosophy and any new tools and technologies being used for the Internet and eCommerce.Prioritizes, tracks, handles, and maintains records of the elements, costs, and time schedules of multiple projects.Consults with supervisor to evaluate individual project needs.Prepares illustrations or rough sketches of material according to instructions of client or supervisor.Develops negatives and prints to produce layout photographs for client or supervisor.Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, selects style and size of type.Studies illustrations, photographs, and text to plan presentation of material, product, or service.
Graphic Designer Qualifications:Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.3+ years of print and digital graphic design experience required, ideally for a consumer goods company.Must be highly proficient with InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Quark, along with other graphic, imaging and CMS software.Experience generating creative solutions and translating concepts and information into images.Ability to use feedback to modify designs and applies principles.Demonstrated attention to detail.Experience developing project plans and communicating changes and progress, as well as completing projects on time and budget.Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
