Senior Engineering Manager, Infrastructure

As a Sr. Engineering Manager, you will lead a group of engineers responsible for the reliability, performance, scalability, and safe operability of stateful systems at Squarespace. We build software to automate, optimize, and manage services with reliability-driven outcomes in mind in an environment where the system's high availability and consistency are paramount.

You will work with our peer teams within the Infrastructure organization and our internal customers across the rest of Squarespace Engineering to deliver solutions that unlock and enable velocity across the whole organization. You'll play a critical role in developing the careers of our engineers and in the process contribute to an environment where we enjoy our work and the accomplishment of our goals.

This is a hybrid role working from our New York office 3 days a week. You will report to our Sr. Manager in our NYC office.

You'll Get To…

You'll manage the Database Engineering team responsible for relational databases, document databases, durable queues, caches, and naming services that back the core functionality of Squarespace's productsYour scope of operation will cover a hybrid environment across Squarespace's data centers and the cloud as we continue to embrace the latterYou will contribute to infrastructure organizational practices that consider the intersection of service reliability and operational costs to enable SRE and service owners to scale sub-linearly as Squarespace's user base grows across a variety of productsYou will contribute to, and drive the adoption of, a technological roadmap that balances developer experience and organizational velocity as we transform how we approach reliability in an hybrid environment with an eye toward global presence and scale

Who We're Looking For

You have 7+ years of experience leading distributed teams of individual contributor engineers and engineering managersExperience in software engineering, data, *nix systems and in operating distributed systems at scale.Successful track record of building strong relationships,with ability to galvanize and align teams around a mission and vision, serving as an internal change agent to drive speed and innovation

Cash Compensation Range: $204,000 - $358,800 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), all Squarespace employees are eligible to receive equity in the company as part of their total compensation.
