District Director, Advanced Manufacturing Industry

The basics of this position: The Director, Advanced Manufacturing Industry will oversee and provide strategic direction to build and maintain STLCC’s partnerships with organizations in the advanced manufacturing space. The position will collaborate with business and industry, economic development agencies, policy makers, K-12 districts, and internal stakeholders. In partnership with Student Affairs, Marketing, Academic Affairs and Workforce Solutions groups the director will plan, develop, and implement effective programs meeting the advanced manufacturing training needs of the region. The director will have shared responsibility for increasing college enrollment in advanced manufacturing degree and workforce programs.

What you'll do:Develops, implements, and manages strong partnerships with industries and organizations that lead to increased opportunities for students, the college, and the manufacturing industries in the St. Louis region.Evaluates industry and economic trends and needs to develop and maintain in-demand programmatic offerings for advanced manufacturing.In partnership and alignment with Student Affairs and other STLCC departments, recruits students to advanced manufacturing programs.Partners with area high schools to show the value proposition of programs within advanced manufacturing to increase student interest.Identifies external funding sources and grants that can support activities and growth of programs within advanced manufacturing.Provides oversight for grants and is responsible for ensuring grant activities are completed promptly.Develops a strategic relationship with relevant industry and community partners to understand and address the continuously changing needs of the St. Louis region.Identifies opportunities to develop paid internship programs for students.In partnership with campus leadership, develops and administers policies, procedures, programs, and the Advanced ManufacturingCenter to meet the institutional and academic needs of students enrolled in those programs.Performs normal supervisory and managerial responsibilities to include maintaining staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees and developing personal growth opportunities. Accomplishes staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees. Plans, monitors, and appraises job results.Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, experience, and other requirements: Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of relevant experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Demonstrated ability to think strategically, operationalize and sustain innovative partner programs.Excellent organizational skills, including multitasking, prioritizing work, compartmentalizing projects, and documenting.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at one time.Record of successfully maintaining organizational operational excellence and cross-sector partnerships emphasizing business and industry alignment.Well-established ability to work effectively with varying constituent groups in a multicultural, urban environment.Considerable knowledge in the application of relevant technology to support and enhance the learning experience, particularly in advanced manufacturing industries, trends, and technology.Knowledge of current federal and state laws and initiatives related specifically to career and technical education, career pathways, requirements for course and program completion or certifications related to advanced manufacturing careers.
