About SPIN Enrich: SPIN Enrich offers programming in partnership with schools and community partners and out of our new makerspace and lab at the Renton Technical College Annex. SPIN Enrich teaches STEM concepts in supportive learning environments, focused on culturally relevant instruction. Sessions are hands-on allowing students to experience and learn from cutting-edge equipment and technology used throughout the STEM industry. POSITION DESCRIPTIONCentral/South Seattle Lead Instructor: The Lead Instructor is an hourly, part time position. The lead instructor will travel to three elementary schools - Beacon Hill International School, Madrona Elementary, and Maple Elementary school. SPIN will provide curriculum, technology training, and professional development in classroom management and culturally responsive pedagogy. Ideal candidates will bring a desire to work with kids (ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade), experience working with K-1 students, and a willingness to learn! We value lived experience and a STEM background is not a requirement for this position.During the school year, we provide after school classes Monday through Friday at the following locations with additional setup and take-down time:Monday: Madrona 3-4pmTuesday: Madrona 3-5:10pmWednesday: Maple 1:45-5:05pmThursday: Beacon Hill 3-5:10pmFriday: Beacon Hill 3-4pm

During summer, we provide classes for a duration of 4 days per week for 6 consecutive weeks at the following locations with additional setup and take-down time:July 8-11: Kimble 9:30-11:30amJuly 15-18: Beacon Hill 9:30-11:30amJuly 22-25: Madrona 9:30-11:30amJuly 29-August 1: Kimble 9:30-11:30amAugust 5-8: Beacon Hill 9:30-11:30amAugust 12-14 AND 16: Madrona 9:30-11:30am (NOTE: SPIN will not provide instruction to Madrona students on 8/15/24 and will meet instead on 8/16/24)

REQUIREMENTS:Facilitate classes of up to 15 students in classes focused on technology enrichmentServe as SPIN lead in the Youth Program Quality Assurance process to continue to improve SPIN programming in collaboration with partnersIn collaboration with on-site team, provide needed reporting materials to SPIN and to our funding partnersProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google DocsAttend required training and check-ins, maintain attendance and discipline records, administer and submit pre and post survey data.QUALIFICATIONS::Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.Comfort with technology. Willingness to learn new subjects.Experience with class managementOutstanding time management and organizational skillsCommitted to providing all kids with equal education opportunities.Comfort in working with K-5 students, especially K-1 studentsPREFERED SKILLS:Experience working with low-income students, included but not limited to Title 1 schools, and a familiarity with the unique gifts and needs of this population.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to commit to the Spring and Summer schedule. Substitutes are not readily available.Must be able to pass a Seattle Public Schools background check, which may include fingerprintingMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform loading and unloading of equipmentMust have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurancePrincipals only.
