Fundraising Events Specialist

THE OPPORTUNITYStop Soldier Suicide is looking for a Fundraising Events Specialist who wants to step up every day to fuel the life-saving work we do with American veterans and service members.

Reporting to the Director of National Fundraising Events, the Fundraising Events Specialist will be responsible for assisting with execution and fundraising for DIY, 3rd Party, and Owned events including social events and peer to peer. He/She/They will report to the Director of National Fundraising Events, on the Development Team.

Our headquarters is located in North Carolina’s Research Triangle, but our focus is finding the right teammates to make our goal a reality. We invite candidates outside the geographic area to apply, provided you are flexible to accommodate a working schedule in EST or CST time zones.

You’ll travel to execute events and also have the opportunity to connect and collaborate with colleagues in-person, approximately 1x/quarter, at our headquarters in Durham, NC. (Travel not expected to exceed 20%.)

RESPONSIBILITIESThe Fundraising Events Specialist shares our passion for saving the lives of veterans, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and will be entrusted with the following key responsibilities:Assist with event execution and fundraising.Work alongside the events team to recruit, train and oversee volunteers for the event(s).Oversee the management of venues and vendors.Assist in performing special event administrative duties in a timely and efficient manner; including but not limited to preparing agendas and meeting minutes, reviewing, and submitting event related invoices for payment, assembling sponsor solicitation packets, and mailing and emailing invitations.Assist with follow-up, acknowledgement, and data capture in Salesforce.Manage a portfolio of corporate and individual partnerships and relationships, working cross functionally with development and marketing to ensure ongoing engagement, benefit delivery, and follow up/recognition.Cultivate relationships with donors, supporters, and community members to solicit donations and contributions.Develop and execute fundraising strategies and campaigns to achieve fundraising goals and objectives.Identify prospective donors and funding opportunities, including individuals, corporations and foundations.Collaborate with and support Stop Soldier Suicide’s development leadership team, board members, and Executive Leadership Committee members with respect to cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts.Effectively navigate institutional resources to be an effective Stop Soldier Suicide representative with donors. Stay informed of institutional priorities, regional work and achievements, and current updates on key veteran suicide issues.Travels up to 20% of the time, to execute events.Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONSWe’re looking for individuals who are committed to the mission, vision, and values of Stop Soldier Suicide. In addition, the Fundraising Events Specialist should possess the following key attributes:1-2 years of experience implementing and executing events.Experience working with a developmental or sales team.Willingness to travel and ability to attend functions/activities outside of normal work hours, with advanced notice.Tech savvy and comfortable with using multiple software applications to troubleshoot, track progress, and provide reports. Specific experience in Salesforce, DonoDrive and project management software (Monday.com, ect) is highly preferred.Excellent organizational skills with ability to work on multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment.Experience working and communicating in a remote environment while maintaining a work-home life balance.A strong goal-oriented and metrics-driven work approach.Demonstrated ability to apply logical thought processing to problem solve and recommend solutions.Military background/experience/connection preferred.

OBJECTIVES AND KEY RESULTS (OKRs)This individual is responsible for meeting the following Objectives and Key Results:Raise $250k in new revenue for the organization in the first yearHelp build owned events, DIY, and 3rd Party Events to a first year goal of $1.6M dollars in conjunction with the Director of National Fundraising Events and the Manager National Fundraising events

SALARY AND BENEFITSThis is a full-time, exempt position. Salary is commensurate with experience and and falls within the range of $55,000 - $60,000 per year.
