I am working with a leading solar developer in North Carolina who seeking a VP of Project Development to help scale their utility-scale solar projects. Their mission is to accelerate the transition to clean, renewable energy by delivering innovative solar solutions across the United States.
As the Vice President of Project Development you will lead their utility-scale solar project development efforts. The VP of Project Development will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of utility-scale solar projects, from site identification and acquisition through permitting, design, and interconnection. This role requires a strong leader with a proven track record in solar project development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities:Lead and manage the project development team in identifying, evaluating, and securing new utility-scale solar project opportunities.Oversee site selection, land acquisition, and negotiation of real estate agreements for solar project development.Manage the permitting and regulatory approval process, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to develop project designs that optimize performance and cost-efficiency.Drive interconnection processes and manage relationships with utilities and grid operators.Provide strategic guidance and support to project development team members, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Studies, or related field; Master's degree preferred.5-10 years of experience in utility-scale solar project development, including direct experience managing large-scale projects from inception to completion.Proven track record of successfully developing and permitting utility-scale solar projects in the United States.Strong understanding of solar project economics, financing structures, and regulatory requirements.
This role will be a hybrid position based in Raleigh, North Carolina.
