📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
The Stowers Institute for Medical Research has an opening for a Research Technician in our Media Preparation core facility.
Responsibilities Include:Preparing reagents and media (yeast, microbiological) to standard specifications including pH, osmolality and antibiotic concentrationsModifying existing protocols to meet researchers’ requirements as neededPreparing and maintaining stock solutions for the media vending systemParticipating in the scheduling and delivery of finished productsTroubleshooting new media formulations in cooperation with researchersPerforming quality control checks on new raw materialsSetting up and maintaining equipment and instrumentsUtilizing the LIMS system to organize, track and bill ordersAssisting in the writing and implementation of Standard Operating ProceduresOrdering raw materials and maintaining inventoryAssisting with other duties as required
The successful candidate will have mastered a broad spectrum of basic laboratory techniques in general wet bench lab work and have excellent sterile technique; the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, as well as exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum Requirements:A Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Microbiology or similar life sciencesAt least one year of relevant scientific experience
