Electrical Engineer

Job Title: Electrical EngineerContract: 6 Months (Contract to Hire)Location: Tampa, FL (Open to Relocation)Pay: 46-50 an hr

Job/Role Description:Provide Engineering support on multiple projects to the Engineering & Project Management team as requiredTravel to survey and document existing conditions of electrical lighting systems and/or review jobsite conditions for new construction projects, including but not limited to Utility transformers, meters, load centers, handholes and underground distribution.Being able to review and understand as-built documentsProvide photometric calculations using Visual Lighting software to ensure design compliance with local standards and IES recommendationsAssist with materials required for projects based on design and based on proposal and customer agreement documentation.Knowledge of common lighting fixture products is requiredAttend customer and internal team meetings, coordinate project design deliverables with other team membersProduce Engineering design documents for construction with attention to detail and local Codes and requirementsPerform any other task as assigned by the Supervisor of Engineering and Design.

Required Skills/Experience:Utility backgroundElectrical Engineering degreeGIS experience-2 yearsVisual/AGI32 experienceField experience (wiring/lighting/poles/transformers).Technical knowledge of electrical distribution (transformers, voltages, phases, wiring, grounding), understanding of lumens, footcandles and lighting distribution.-2 yrsMinimum of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from ABET Accredited Institution.Minimum of 2 years of direct work experience in Electric Utility performing the Duties and Responsibilities of this position is preferred.Knowledge of Electric Utility standards and electrical safety practices.

Preferred:EIT certification or PE license in Electrical Engineering, Lighting Certified Accreditation.

Relationships:Frequent communication with Supervisor of Engineering, Senior LFET, Business Development, Distribution Technicians and Construction Manager.Occasional interaction with Utility subcontractors and Customer representatives.

Working Conditions: Travel – Up to 20%. Travel from and/or office to jobsite locations not limited to the Service Area. Travel can be limited to nationally.Working in outdoor construction zones, light to heavy traffic areas, public spaces.Working some overtime.Working outdoors in hot, humid, wet and/or cold conditions 25% to 50% of the workday.
