Quality Engineer

Job Summary:The Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing quality assurance processes, ensuring adherence to the ISO certified Quality System. This role involves leading root cause investigations, maintaining quality metrics, and managing the validation and testing of products. The engineer will work closely with internal teams and global suppliers to implement continuous improvements and corrective actions. Candidates should have a strong background in LEAN/Six Sigma methodologies and effective communication skills.

Position Responsibilities:Ensure effective implementation and maintenance of the company's ISO-certified Quality System, including modifications, communication of changes to the organization, monitoring audit schedules, and facilitating audits by external certification bodies.Lead investigations into internal and external quality issues using methods such as A3, 5-Why, 8D, 5P, etc.Maintain and monitor corrective and preventive action processes arising from audit findings, product non-conformances, and supplier non-conformances. This role involves interactions with the company's customers and global suppliers.Coordinate the transition of new or modified components and finished goods through the validation process with manufacturing and suppliers.Support and coordinate reliability testing in both internal and external laboratories for components and finished products.Complete statistical studies, including gage R&R, capability, Pareto, and trend analyses, to identify manufacturing capability levels and opportunities for improvement within the manufacturing processes.

Position Qualifications:Experience with implementation of LEAN/Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt certification desired), including 5S, SMED, Value Stream Mapping, etc.Strong knowledge and effective execution of root cause analysis and corrective actions aimed at defect prevention.Proficiency in blueprint reading and understanding GD&T principles.Ability to perform arithmetic operations in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to tackle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Education/Experience:Bachelor’s degree, preferred, from an accredited college or university.
