THE OPPORTUNITY

This position will specialize in our soil stabilization products. The professional engineer will consult with road construction customers in-office and on-site, working alongside the sales team at times, providing an in-depth technical overview of the product and its application. You will also work alongside the operations team to standardize, document, train, and conduct product testing. Extensive travel to remote and rural parts of the country is part of the position to provide on-site analysis and consultation services on behalf of Substrata.

THE SKILL SET

Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil, geological, or environmental engineering (required)Experience: Ideal candidate will have at least 10 to 15 years of experience in civil – geotechnical engineering, with direct involvement in soil analysis and testing best practicesCertifications/Licenses: Professional Engineering (PE) licensureExperience working out in the fieldAdvanced data collection and recording techniquesObserving and documenting field activities related to the construction processUp-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulationsStrong critical thinking and problem solving skillsExcellent time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize tasksSampling, testing, and inspecting soils and aggregatesPerforming calculations and data reduction of test resultsUsing field testing equipment and documenting readingsReading maps, following directions, and interpreting engineering and construction plansInteracting and communicating daily with contractors, technicians, and project managerDetermining and/or performing appropriate laboratory testsAttending project meetings and assisting in project resolutionsAssisting with the preparation and presentation of sales proposalsAssisting with scheduling, training, and oversight of Field Engineers.

Assist on Sales calls as the technical expertSite quality analysis and quality verifications

Within 3 Months You’ll

Build lab/testing soil standardsPerform geotechnical studies, field tests, analysis, and designWrite, review, and oversee research papers, articles, and publicationsWrite technical documentation, process and procedures for Substrata and industry wide.

Within 6 Months You’ll

Work with standards organizations such as DOTs & DODProvide expert engineering advice and recommendations for construction projectsBuilt and grow Engineering department by hiring and training as the demand grows
