Overview 

Summit Materials is looking for a safety-oriented driver with a Commercial Driver’s License to operate a commercial motor vehicle with a capacity of at least 26,001 GVWR to transport and deliver ready-mix concrete. The driver will be required to operate various aspects of the vehicle’s systems to alter, mix, or unload as required. The position may require the use of automated routing equipment.

Roles & Responsibilities 

Fills water tank, checks slump of load, and cleans excess material from truck. Safely drives loaded truck to the destination on the delivery ticket and instructions from dispatch. Ensures all delivery tickets are signed and returned to the plant. Upon arrival, inspects job sites, works with customers to obtain adequate vehicle access, and unloads material. Communicates truck status with Dispatch by use of two-way radio and encoders. Rinse the chute and rear of the truck free of spilled concrete (re-hang extension chutes as necessary). Returns to same yard or other yard as instructed by dispatch and receives new instructions. Maintain good customer relations. Act in a professional, courteous manner. Maintain a professional appearance.Assists in training co-workers as needed.Performs pre-trip vehicle safety inspections and reports vehicle condition at each shift's beginning and end. Checks all vehicle fluid levels daily and adds fluids as necessary.Occasionally uses a chipping hammer to remove excess concrete buildup.Performs minor repairs and assists mechanics in vehicle repairs.Changes flat tires with spares and assists tire mechanic as needed

Skills & Experience  

High School diploma or equivalent Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a valid medical card Meet minimum MVR requirements Ability to provide high standards of customer service Ability to clean all areas on the vehicle, climb a ladder to inspect loads, and hang extension chutes
