API Support Engineer

We are currently seeking a highly skilled ‘Digital Banking Integration Engineer’ to join our professional team. This essential role reports directly to the VP of Application Delivery, offering a unique opportunity to significantly contribute to the success of our dynamic and forward-thinking organization.

Responsibilities

• API Integration: This role will be working on integrations for SWB’s BaaS products and other SWB Applications, requiring advanced technical skills and API knowledge. Key responsibilities involve supporting third-party stakeholders with their Integration journey with SWB, along with troubleshooting at the code level and optimizing API performance. Specific details are as follows:Owning responsibility for onboarding third-parties to SWB's BaaS products and other SWB Applications, demonstrating deep knowledge of API request/response flows, along with the ability to troubleshoot API Interactions.Requires strong skills in a variety of tools including Postman, Visual Studio & PowerShell for testing, debugging, and API contract validation. Familiarity with Azure DevOps is preferred.Leading introductory calls, providing integration documentation, and facilitating technical discussions between internal and external teams. Must have a strong grasp of technical language, API structures, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively.Familiarity with Agile methodologies, effective communication within Agile teams, and the capability to coordinate go-live integrations, focusing on technical specifications and timelines. Will require candidate to obtain Agile Developer Certification/ScrumMaster Certification, if they do not hold these certifications already.
• B2B Integration: Facilitate smooth integration with external partners, ensuring effective communication and data exchange in alignment with banking industry standards.This includes a specific focus on integrating Homeowners Association (HOA) and Realty Software to streamline property management and real estate transactions.Additional experience with other integration platforms and financial software will be considered a significant advantage.

• Vendor Management: Work closely with third-party vendors for the integration and support of their solutions within the banking environment.Collaborate with clients, third-party software vendors, and internal developers/engineers to ensure solutions align with stakeholder needs.Lead and support the implementation of third-party integration enhancements.Assist in developing systems to manage integration risks, including compliance and regulatory adherence. Spearhead initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency, ensuring the maintenance of 'white-glove' service standards, reflective of SWB's unwavering commitment to the highest caliber of client service.
• Technical Support & Documentation: Proactively address and resolve technical issues reported by end-users, emphasizing swift and efficient solutions to reduce operational disruptions across internal teams and external stakeholders, including third parties and clients.Work with internal resources to drive, manage & resolve outstanding production issues through internal teams while providing updates to downstream dependencies.Diligently create and uphold comprehensive documentation to enhance knowledge sharing and reinforce business continuity.Documentation should cover application configurations, scheduled batch job execution guides, troubleshooting escalation protocols, and support processes.
• Collaboration: Work in a cross-functional team, closely collaborating with internal Scrum, Operations, and external Client teams for successful deployment and support of our BaaS and Banking Apps. Will be asked to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to all technical levels, i.e. Architects, Developers, Business Stakeholders, etc.
• Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks associated with API functionalities in the BaaS environment, including data security, compliance with banking regulations, and operational stability.Ensuring data security is a top priority for this role. The successful candidate will consistently prioritize the protection of data integrity and confidentiality in all aspects of their work, from client interactions to code development.Work with compliance and regulatory teams to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies for API integration and support, ensuring alignment with financial industry standards and best practices.Work with internal development teams/architects to develop monitoring plans along with reviewing API performance to detect and address any anomalies or security breaches promptly, minimizing impact on banking services.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including development teams and banking clients, to understand and integrate their risk management requirements into API support processes.Stay aligned & up to date with the latest developments in banking regulations and cybersecurity trends, applying this knowledge to strengthen the risk management framework.Help contribute to the creation of robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans, focusing on APIs and their critical role in the BaaS ecosystem.Document and report all risk management activities and findings, providing transparency and insights for continuous improvement and compliance adherence.7. Technical Training and Mentoring: The successful candidate will be able to develop, organize, and conduct technical training sessions on SWB’s BaaS products and API integrations.Provide mentorship & training to junior team members, fostering their professional and technical growth.Stay current with the latest industry trends in API technologies and software development, ensuring training relevance.Track skill improvements through assessments and provide constructive feedback.Facilitate knowledge sharing sessions across internal teams to promote a culture of continuous learning.

Qualifications:- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.- Demonstrated expertise in technical application support within the banking industry, including proficiency in one or more areas such as API, B2B integration, vendor management, and banking systems.- Proficient in troubleshooting APIs at the code level and enhancing API performance.- Familiarity with standard B2B integration protocols and the utilization of tools for process improvement.- Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities, with a keen focus on adhering to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) pertaining to banking applications.- Superior written and verbal communication skills, along with effective collaboration abilities.- Capability to operate autonomously and collaboratively as part of a diverse team.- Knowledge of regulatory mandates and security protocols specific to the banking sector.- Expertise in various programming languages and frameworks, notably .NET, C#, JavaScript, and web development frameworks such as Angular and React.

Preferred qualifications:- Candidates with a Master’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field are preferred, as it provides a solid foundation in the principles and practices relevant to this role.- Ideal candidates should possess a thorough understanding of banking systems, including their functionalities and compliance requirements, to deliver effective technical support.

Nice-to-Haves:- SQL database management skills are a plus, as this will allow querying of databases, analyzing data, and efficiently resolving database-related issues that may arise with the BaaS product and other Banking Apps.
