A medical practice is seeking a motivated person to work as a full time Medical Assistant under the direction of the provider. The job requires good communication and computer skills. Essential Functions

Serve as a patient advocate during patient exam and treatmentInterview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and heightShow patients to examination rooms, procedure rooms and prepare them for the physicianRecord patients' medical history, medications, allergies, vital statisticsEnsure proper consent forms are obtained prior to preparing a patient for treatmentExplain treatment procedures, medications and physicians' instructions to patientsUnder Provider direction, authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies. Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and cleanFax referrals and imaging ordersSubmit medication prior authorizationsAnswer phones in a polite and professional mannerOther duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

Previous medical experienceComputer literate and organizedMust be able to learn and work within an electronic medical recordWork well as a team and independently. A friendly disposition and willingness to follow through and assist others is a must. Experience working with a multi-line phone system
