Business Systems Manager

About the Role:Our client is an Accounting organization is seeking a Project Manager for financial systems to join their accounting team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate cross-functionally and lead various initiatives. This role presents an opportunity to deliver impactful outcomes through robust frameworks and scalable solutions that elevate the Finance function.

Responsibilities:Lead projects aimed at enhancing processes and reporting within the Accounting function, including facilitating automated journal entries from subledger to general ledger and data enablement for account reconciliations.Develop accounting requirements, collaborate with engineering partners on implementation, create test cases and business processes.Represent the accounting team in product development discussions with various teams, ensuring pre-planning for project deliverables, effort estimation across accounting functions, regular project status updates, and escalation to management when necessary.Contribute to the development of financial product areas by drafting specification documents, reviewing specs, participating in development syncs, and assessing software development progress.Conduct intricate analysis on financial data from the hiring company's proprietary systems for financial reporting.Take charge of utilizing financial data from the hiring company's proprietary systems for financial reporting, emphasizing data accuracy, integrity, transferability, and usability across systems.Drive the creation of comprehensive system documentation and support financial and internal controls, as well as audits.Collaborate closely with other accounting teams to ensure adherence to reporting policies and procedures, including technical accounting and general ledger teams.Exercise advanced planning and decision-making to prioritize and advocate for necessary system enhancements or fixes for financial reporting both in the short and long term.Participate in troubleshooting exercises for system-related issues impacting reconciliations or reporting, and generate complex ad hoc queries and reports to support accounting and finance teams.

Requirements:6-8 years of experience in accounting, business analysis, project management, and financial systems.Expertise in working with Financial or Accounting teams on operational or financial system projects. Possession of a project management certification (e.g., PMP) is advantageous.Demonstrated business analysis skills and experience in managing intricate projects with meticulous attention to detail and impact assessment during scope or timeline adjustments.Strong leadership capabilities to foster collaboration across organizations, bridge interdepartmental gaps, and influence effectively without direct authority.Deep understanding of data analysis, proficiency in Excel and SQL, prior exposure to data warehouse and analytical tools (e.g., Looker).Direct engagement with Engineering teams in product development, comprehensive knowledge of software development methodologies such as SDLC, Agile, and Waterfall.Sound knowledge of financial principles and processes, including accounting month-end close, automated accounting entries, and reconciliation procedures.Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey thoughts clearly and concisely.Degree in Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, or Information Systems.

Location and Compensation:Location: Remote within the country of employment.Competitive compensation package ranging from $146,100 to $219,200 per year based on location.Remote-first company with selective roles requiring occasional in-office presence.
