Laboratory Assistant

About the RoleAt Techcyte, we are building SaaS solutions for microscopy testing using artificial intelligence (AI), including computer vision and deep machine learning. Laboratory Assistants are a critical part of our day-to-day operation in our lab and assist engineering & product management with laboratory support to develop world-class machine-learning products for medical, environmental, and veterinary markets.

This position is at the Orem, UT laboratory so the candidate needs to live close enough to Orem to commute. This position is part-time with an estimated 15-20 hours per week; hours are flexible. The candidate will primarily focus on Techcyte’s Environmental vertical, assisting lab staff with preparing shipments and maintaining the laboratory workspace, occasionally preparing and processing air quality samples for home inspectors.

ResponsibilitiesMaintain lab cleanliness and organizationShip sampling supplies to customers and maintain inventoryReceive samples from clients and perform data entry tasksPrepare biological samples onto microscope slidesDigitize microscope slides with various whole slide scannersOther duties based on active projectsQualificationsMust be able to commute to the office in Orem, UtahExperience working in a lab (i.e. safety, sample preparation, experience with light microscopes, etc.) preferredCollege lab experience is acceptablePursuing a Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in biology, clinical laboratory science, or related majors preferredStrong attention to detail, especially with repetitive tasksGood organization and record-keeping skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to operate with limited supervisionMust be able to work collaboratively within a team and across disciplines
