📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Technicon Design is hiring senior level Clay Modelers!
Job Description: Clay Modeling activities. Wood shop and metal shop activities as well. Building and finishing scale and full-size interior and exterior clay models. Work on projects for the design group and for CMF department. Working in clay, wood, tooling foam, steel, aluminum, and plastic. Working with standard wood shop, metal shop, and modeling studio power equipment and hand tools.
Skills
Complete knowledge of automotive Clay Modeling including model construction. Must be able to take graphic and verbal direction from Creative Design staff and interpret 3D design in clay.
Responsibilities
Develop technically feasible scale and full-scale interior and exterior surface proposals that achieve aesthetic intent. Create competitive and directionally accurate vehicle and component proposals based on limited data and verbal direction. Utilize cutting edge technology and traditional modeling methods to complete time-sensitive projects. Provide innovative solutions to improve existing digital technology systems and modeling processes. Provide technical guidance to vehicle designers. Provide Design input to program teams. CNC Milling experience.
Requirements
Model making apprentice and/or automotive prototype manufacturing. 5 years Automotive clay modeling experience. Experience of metal, wood, plastic & trim prototype fabricating. Knowledge of Tarus CNC milling and/or ATOS optical scanning is advantageous.
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in U.S.
