📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Job Summary:The Financial Manager is responsible for developing, overseeing and managing the procedures and processing of departmental, grant, and contract budgets, financial and accounting operations, and performing advanced financial and budget management, analysis, and modeling. This position is also responsible for input into policy development and will be expected to interpret business, human resources, and student financial policies to IBR employees, students, and other stakeholders. The Financial Manager will compile and analyze both statistical and financial data and provide reports to senior management. This position also identifies opportunities for budget efficiency and savings.Duties & Essential Job Functions:1. Manages budget codes for the IBR including: assigning all budget project codes for department, validating budget coding for accounts payable invoices and approving payments, confirming funding availability, providing and approving budget codes on grants and contracts.2. Coordinates payroll setup with Human Resources for all student and temporary employees. Verifies and approves payroll hours to be paid for student workers and temporary employees.3. Reconciles and submits corrections for all general ledger entries.4. Archives and maintains all financial and personnel records pertinent to the IBR5. Prepares financial reports and presentations by providing trends and forecasts; comparing data with previous years, analyzing results and drawing logical conclusions; explaining processes and techniques; preparing recommendations. Provides financial reporting as requested by Director.6. Analyzes financial budget performance and providing trend analysis recommendations for budget compliance.7. Monitors budget activity and cash flows in conjunction with all operational aspects of the office and ensures financial forecasts accurately contemplate annual and multi-year operating trends. Regularly ensures that financial activity reflected in PeopleSoft reconciles with expected results from University offices including Financial Office and the Provost’s Office.8. Works with IBR leadership as an institution to develop and refine strategic forecasts, as well as prepare responses and detailed analyses for financial planning and budget approvals9. Translates university, state, and federal Financial, Budgetary and Technology-related policies and processes into documented communications that uniquely apply to department. Works with school and university leadership to refine and improve the quality and efficiency of financial processes.10. Advises the Director and other department leadership on impact of budget commitments and communicates arising matters.11. Provides the Director with current year and multi-year financial projections.12.
