Controller

The Axel Group is seeking a Controller to join out clients team in Ocean County, NJ!

Responsibilities:Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial information and safeguard company assetsOversee cash flow management, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functionsMonitor and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock levels and minimize inventory carrying costsCreate and maintain annual budgets/forecasts for the company's operationsPerform regular analysis of financial data to identify trends and areas for improvementPrepare and present regular financial reports to the executive management teamDevelop and implement strategies to improve profitability, reduce costs, and increase revenueManage the company's relationships with financial institutions, auditors, and other stakeholders

Experience and Knowledge:Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field7+ years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 3 years in a Controller role with a company in the contracting industry (e.g. construction, landscaping, HVAC, etc.)Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial analysis and reportingExperience with Quickbooks and other accounting software programsExperience with job costing software programs (e.g. Aspire, Timberline, Foundation, Viewpoint, Sage 300) as well as online customer billing portalsExperience with multi-state income, sales, and use tax reporting
