📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
The Axel Group is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our client’s team out of St. Johns County, Florida. This leading construction engineering firm specializes in building diagnostics and construction project management across Northeast Florida, out to the Panhandle, and down to Palm Coast!
The Structural Engineer will be responsible for a diverse range of responsibilities, from overseeing construction projects and conducting inspections to communicating with stakeholders, producing reports, and continuously improving skills and knowledge. Effective communication, strong technical abilities, and a commitment to professionalism are essential for success in this role.
This individual will be an integral part of the team, reporting directly to the firm’s Vice President!
Construction Project Oversight: oversee various projects from inception to completion. This involves monitoring progress, ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements, and addressing any issues or challenges that arise
Report Writing: document findings from inspections, including any deficiencies or areas of non-compliance, and providing recommendations for corrective actions
Produce Design Details: produce design details or modifications to engineering plans based on observations during site inspections
Contract Administration: manage contracts (between clients and sub-contractors). This includes reviewing contract terms, monitoring performance, handling change orders, and resolving disputes
Meet with Clients: build and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their needs, address concerns, and provide excellent service. This also involves gathering project requirements, providing updates on progress, and discussing any issues or changes to the project scope
Meet with Contractors: build and maintain strong relationships with contractors. This includes discussing construction activities, reviewing plans, addressing issues, and ensuring that work is being carried out according to specifications
Diagnostic Testing of Buildings: conducting diagnostic testing of buildings to identify structural issues, building deficiencies, and potential safety hazards. This may involve using specialized equipment and techniques to assess the condition of structural components and building systems
Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management1 – 4 years of experience working within engineering design or construction managementProficient in AutoCADExcellent technical writing skillsEI certification or PE license, preferredWillingness to work flexible hours, as required
