📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW: The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce works to cultivate prosperity and quality of life through its member’s businesses. Since the beginning of the Chamber over a hundred years ago, we strive to keep programs current and responsive to the demands of Sarasota’s modern business climate. The Chamber is the bridge that links businesses, organizations, and residents together through programs that ultimately strengthen Sarasota. SUMMARY: This position is an entry level position that will work to promote and enhance the professional image and identity of The Chamber through all communication platforms. Develop, coordinate, and execute the Chamber’s marketing and communications plan for the Chamber and all of its programs. All is accomplished by performing the following duties personally or collaborating with Chamber staff. Assist in creating, laying out, and maintaining marketing and promotional materials.2. Assist in preparation and maintenance of effective marketing and communications. 3. Maintain integrity of Chamber communications and visual branding style.4. Aid in writing, coordinating, and distributing editorial content for all email marketing, e-newsletters. 5. Aid in writing, coordinating, and distributing editorial content for all printed publications include the quarter magazine, The Bridge.6. Create, post, and share all social media channels for Chamber and programs’ brands.7. Assist with set-up, production, and promotion of Chamber/program events including basic photography.8. Create Power Point presentations, as needed event announcements, invitations, programs, and signage for Chamber/ program events.9. Assist with Membership services and events.10. Organize a monthly communications calendar. 11. Assist with website maintenance:a. Update the home page with relevant news, events, and other pages as neededb. Upload photos – program events, staff, program councils, etc.c. Upload member press releases to the Members News sectiond. Upload Chamber program press releases to the Chamber News sectione. Assist members with questions regarding the website, job bank ads, press release tool and updating member profiles11. Maintain updates to the additional, separate CareerEdge websitef. Update each page with relevant informationg. Upload press releases and press coverage to the “In the Press” sectionh. Maintain brand cohesivenessi. Upload photos12. Assist with administrative duties for Chamber programs as needed:a. Manage program social media posts.b. Update program website tabs.c. Create program newsletters.d. Create printed marketing and digital marketing materials.e. Assisting with event setup, coverage, and breakdown ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Coordinate preparation of The Chamber Buzz (monthly)2. Assist with collection and placement of ads on the Chamber website and in Chamber publications3. Create/update various documents and spreadsheets for internal Chamber use4. Maintain a library of member/program logos5. Track, collate, and maintain inventory of marketing materials6. Maintain inventory of photo work, artwork, and film, and maintain marketing literature, archive files, and sample files7. Complete special projects as assigned 8. Perform other duties as required or as assigned by supervisor9. Design and produce various communications materials to tell the Chamber Story.10. Support the creation, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic materials, including:a. Quarterly program e-newsletters for an external audience of members, partners, and supportersb. Annual report for donors and other supportersc. Marketing, development, and solicitation materials, as needed.d. Consistent and engaging postings on social media outlets, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, as appropriate.e. Maintain and update the organizational website with event announcements, photos, news articles, newsletters, press releases, etc.f. Press releases, as neededPower Point presentations, as needed Event announcements, invitations, programs, and signage REQUIREMENTS:1. Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field and 1-3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.2. Experience in desktop publishing, graphic design, writing, AP standards; public relations experience helpful.3. Basic understanding of website maintenance desired.4. Basic understanding of media and service purchasing practices desired.5. Excellent communication skills; professional appearance and ability to effectively represent the Chamber and its brand image.6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with members, volunteers, and the public. TOOLS OR EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:1. PC terminal/ Laptop2. Telephone, copier, calculator, etc.3. Microsoft software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.4. Altas Association Management Software5. Basic camera knowledge and usage6. Video filming and basic editing
