📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Job SummaryThe Data Engineer role will be responsible for building data pipelines from source systems into the analytics environment with validation to allow creation and operations of analytical solutions and computational models. The role will receive daily direction from the Alaska Digital Technology Data Management and Analytics Senior Solutions Architect.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop, test, and manage data pipelines.Collect, explore, validate, and condition data.Collaborate with business subject matter experts and data scientists to create data sets and engineer features for analytical models.Productionize and operationalize analytical models.Adhere to ConocoPhillips’ governance and compliance policies for data and processes.Monitor model performance.Modernize business-critical Oracle database hosted on Unix leveraging Perl scripts for integration and transformation logic.Monitor, optimize, and support the development, test and production environments working closely with the database administrators, analytics architect, and IT infrastructure support to ensure system availability.Integrate and prepare large, varied datasets including time series data and designing specialized database tables and information links within the environment.Work closely with engineers, data scientists, geo-scientists, project/program managers, and IT teams to provide clean and reliable data.
Required QualificationsBS Degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, Statistics, Information Systems, Information Science, or related field5+ years of MS work experienceStrong practical programming skills, including an advanced knowledge of one or more programming languages, and at least an intermediate knowledge of Python. R, C++, Java, SQL, PerlExperience with data visualization/analytics tools, plus strong Excel skills Spotfire, Power BIExperience with an RDBMS, including strong SQL skills Snowflake, Oracle hosted on Unix, Teradata, MS SQLExperience connecting to enterprise systemsExperience with Cloud DevOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Azure, AWS (Cloud Formation, Terraform), MS AzureExperience handling large amount of operational data Experience with Oil & Gas time series data feeds in combination with historical and unstructured dataExcellent verbal and written presentation skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and persuasivelyOil and Gas Industry experienceExcellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork and communications Open attitude towards and ability to learn and utilize new technologies and standardsUnderstand project processes and methodology to support Project Management initiatives and delivery Project Management
