Job description

The Peninsula New York is seeking a licensed Watch Engineer that will operate and maintain chiller plant, HVAC equipment, refrigeration equipment, steam station, pneumatic equipment, high temperature hot water generators, large capacity chiller units, and fire protection systems. Key Accountabilities: Equipment Operations and Maintenance. Operates, repairs, tests, and maintains all types of refrigeration engineering equipment (ex. Centrifugal, split casing, end suction, vertical, vacuum, and vacuum condensate pumps). Properly aligns motors, pumps, shafts, gearboxes, and couplings.Properly repack pump seals and change mechanical seals.Operates, repairs, tests, and maintains all pumping equipment, using necessary hand tools and testing equipment.Operates, repairs, tests, and maintains all types of refrigeration engineering equipment (ex. Centrifugal, split casing, end suction, vertical, vacuum, and vacuum condensate pumps).Responsible for maintaining building's operational equipment and recordkeeping books.Respond and follow up on all service calls and equipment problems.Maintain proper operation of building mechanical systems in relation to weather conditions, i.e., heating, A/C systems. Perform physical inspections of building's equipment. Coordinate with outside contractors to implement repairs. Check water treatment systems and review chemical logs on a regular basis.Supervise monthly testing of emergency generators, fire pump and sprinkler/standpipe system. Required Certifications: FDNY COQ Refrigeration Engineer certificateSprinkler / Standpipe S12 City Wide Sprinklers SystemsS13 City Wide Standpipe SystemsS14 Standpipe for Multi-Zone System A35 Air Compressor CertificatesFDNY S94 Supervising Flame for Compressed Liquid General Requirements: Minimum of five to ten years in operation and maintenance of electric and centrifugal refrigeration equipment, cooling towers, HVAC systems, chiller plant controls, sprinkler / standpipe systems.Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related major experience, a plus.Working knowledge of Building management system and controls.Must be proficient in operation of all tools and equipment to perform duties safely.Read all types of blueprints, schematic drawings, and control diagrams.
